• Identify key removal criteria, wear patterns, and damage thresholds to accurately determine when gear must be taken out of service.
• Evaluate load stability, center of gravity, and balance dynamics prior to and during load movement.
• Plan and execute controlled load-turning operations using single and multi-point rigging arrangements without compromising stability.
• Select and set up hydraulic jacks, blocking, cribbing, and rollers to safely lift and ground-transport heavy loads.
• Apply cribbing stability rules and weight-bearing calculations during low-profile load movement.
• Execute controlled load drifting and transfer operations using dual or multiple chain falls.
• Select and utilize spreader bars and equalizing beams to control sling angles and prevent load crushing forces.
• Develop and follow comprehensive load-handling procedures and step-by-step lift plans tailored to specific site environments.
• Calculate required pulling forces, friction factors, and mechanical advantages when moving loads across inclined surfaces.
• Determine mechanical advantage, line pulls, lead line tensions, and sheave loading for multi-block rigging systems.
• Calculate tension forces on individual sling legs based on sling angles, load weight distribution, and rigging geometry.
• Design and configure complex multi-leg and multi-hitch arrangements (bridles, equalizing systems, choker configurations) for asymmetrical or long loads.
